Jim Heathman | Creative Director & Brand Strategist

I'm a creative director, content strategist, and marketing copywriter with vast experience developing strategies and creating content that engages customers, builds audiences, and drives response. I help brands define their target audiences and connect with people in meaningful, measurable ways.

I'm a writer at heart. Trained as a journalist at the University of Missouri. I’ve employed my talent for turning a phrase as an ad man, a newspaper writer, a content creator, a speech writer, a poet, a game developer, a riddler (yes. it was as goofy as it sounds), and in countless other ways. 

My job is to find ideas that move people. Inspire them. Challenge them. Provoke them. Exhort them. Call them to action.

I've created campaigns targeting seasoned Fortune 500 CEOs ... and fashion-forward 13-year-old girls. Hey, it's what I do. To do it right requires empathy, curiosity, and consideration. Knowing people. Understanding what motivates them. 

Good creatives, especially good writers, are weathervanes like that.

Some brands I helped build include: Discover Card, Under Armour, Lands' End, American Express, Fresh Direct, ESPN, Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast and nonprofits like Year Up, The Seeing Eye, Thrive Scholars, and Animal Legal Defense Fund.
